For so long, many of us have carried the story of separation, of not being enough of one thing or the other, of feeling like we have to choose between the world we grew up in and the world our families came from.
But what if we don't have to choose?
What if the very thing that made us feel different is also what allows us to build bridges between worlds? What if we can honor the sacrifices, hardships, love, and legacy of those who came before us without having to recreate their lives or follow the exact paths they walked?
We can return to our motherland and still build a life somewhere else.
We can move between places, cultures, and languages.
We can create new traditions while honoring the ones we inherited.
We can belong to more than one place without having to prove ourselves to either.
And maybe this is part of what it means to become the new ancestor.
